Esc Volunteer Agreement
Volunteering is a solidarity activity that takes the form of an unpaid voluntary activity for a maximum period of twelve months. It offers young people the opportunity to contribute to the daily work of organizations in solidarity activities, for the ultimate benefit of the communities where the activities are carried out. As the main mechanism for promoting solidarity as a value, volunteering helps to address important societal challenges and meet the needs of local communities. It also enables young people to acquire useful experiences, skills and competences for their personal, pedagogical, social, civic and professional development, thus improving their employability and active citizenship. Volunteer teams are solidarity activities that allow teams of 10 to 40 participants from at least two different countries to voluntarily engage together for a period of between 2 weeks and 2 months. Such solidarity activities could in particular contribute to the involvement of young people who are less likely to participate in the European Solidarity Corps. At least a quarter of the volunteers must come from abroad. Despite their shorter duration, these activities will be valuable to both the individuals and communities that benefit from this service. Activities supported through volunteering should provide a wealth of experience in a non-formal and informal learning context that enhances young people`s skills and competences. They should not replace internships or jobs and should be based on a written volunteering agreement. Individual volunteering is an unpaid full-time solidarity activity for a period of 2 to 12 months. This type of solidarity activity offers young people the opportunity to contribute to the daily work of organizations in solidarity activities, for the ultimate benefit of the communities where the activities are carried out. In duly justified cases, in particular to encourage the participation of young people with less opportunities, volunteer activities of 2 weeks to 2 months may be accepted and implemented.
Volunteering can take place in a wide range of fields, for example. B in the areas of environmental protection, climate protection and greater social inclusion. It does not cover activities which form part of formal education programmes, systems and vocational training activities in emergencies and which must not affect the functioning of the labour market. .
